Dondakaya Curry - Easy Tindora Curry - Dondakaya Allam Mirchi Curry

Dondakaya(kovakkai) curry is a Healthy & tasty Curry made with Tindora, Ginger, Chillies & coconut as main ingredient. It Goes well with Rice ,Roti's & chapathi's.This recipe i have learnt from my cousins mom.  Tindora with Ginger is an awesome Combination. After i tasted her curry, immediately i tried it & came out well. So i wanted to share with you all.




  Dondakaya Allam Mirchi Curry

 Prep Time : 15  min. 
Cooking  Time : 25  minutes

Serves : 5.


Ingredients

Dondakaya(Tindora) - 1/2 kg.
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp.  
Coriander leaves - To Garnish

To  Grind
Ginger -  1 + 1/2 inch"
Coconut - 1/2 cup.
Green chilly - 5 -6.
salt - as needed.
Cumin seeds - 1/4 inch.


To Temper

Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Cumin seeds -1/2 tsp.
oil - to fry.

Preparation

  • Cut the Tindora into Roundels or lengthwise or into desired shape,  as you wish.
  • Grind everything Given in 'To Grind' Column.


Method
  • Pressure Cook the Tindora in a Cooker for 2 whistles.Then drain the water & keep it aside. 

  • Heat the oil, add mustard seeds when it splutters add cumin seeds, when it sizzles add curry leaves & hing.
  • Add  Cooked tindora saute for few seconds till the moisture in it Goes off. Then add turmeric Powder &  Ground mixture.


  • Mix till everything combines well. Garnish with fresh cilantro.

Notes
  • Always pressure cook the tindora, without adding water. Add water in a cooker, place chopped tindora bowl, close the lid & pressure cook.
  • you can add turmeric Powder while Grinding.
  • you can add 3 tbsp of cooked chanadal to the curry, which gives nutty taste to curry.
  • it Goes well with Rice, Chapathi & Roti.

Baby Potato fry - Baby Potato Roast - Baby Potato Vepudu

Baby potato fry is an Easy & tasty fry Goes well with Sambar Rice, Rasam Rice, Chapathi's,Roti's & Phulka's.Small cute potatoes when blended with all  spice powders &  roasted in sim modes till turns light golden shade,  tastes yumm!yumm!. Now we will learn to make the curry.




Baby Potato fry

 Prep Time : 10  min. 
Cook Time : 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Baby Potatoes - 20.
oil - to fry.
coriander leaves - 2 tbsp(for Garnishing)

To Marinate

oil - 1 tsp.
Coriander Powder - 1 tsp.
Cumin Powder - 1/2 tsp.
Chilli Powder - 1 tsp.
turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp.
salt - to taste.

To Temper

Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Fennel seeds - 1/4 tsp.
curry leaves - 1 sprig.
Hing - a Generous Pinch.

Method

  • Rinse & wash the potatoes to get rid of Dirt.Then pressure cook it for  2 - 3 whistles with needed water.once it cooled down remove the skin, and keep it aside.
  • Take a Mixing bowl, add potatoes, all spice powders  Coriander Powder,Cumin Powder,Chilli Powder, Turmeric Powder & salt.Along with it add  1 tsp of oil, Mix well & let it marinate for atleast 15 minutes.

  • Take a kadai or Pan, add oil, when it is hot, add mustard seeds, when it splutters add fennel seeds, curry leaves. Saute for few seconds, when you get Good smell from fennel seeds, add hing & give a quick mix.
  • Now add marinated potatoes, and simmer the stove at low flame. saute now and then  at least for 10 - 12  minutes till it is Roasted. 


  • Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves. Now baby potato fry is ready to serve.



Notes


  • Adding fennel seeds while sauteing, gives nice  flavour to the curry.
  • Always cook in low flame while Roasting.
  • you can  add  1/2 tsp of Garam Masala for Extra taste.
  • Adjust the chilli powder according to your taste buds.

Potato Avarekalu Palya - Potato Mochai Curry - Potato & Surti papdi lilva Curry

Potato Averakalu curry is a delectable curry goes well with Chapathi,Roti,Paratha, dosa & Mild Pulao's. Averakalu is a Popular Legume in Karnataka Cusine. We get this legume in Market, throughout the winter. I hope from November to March.you can make lots of dishes from this legume. Already i have posted  Avarekalu Saagu & Averakalu Saaru. Today I tried curry with it. yummy Avarekalu legume,when combined with Potatoes & some spices  tastes divine. Today i am sharing  the recipe with you all.



Potato Avarekalu Palya

 Prep Time : 10  min. 
Cook Time : 25   minutes per roti

Ingredients

Potato - 1 Big.
Avarekalu(Mochai) - 1/2 cup.
Cilantro(fistful) - to Garnish.

To Grind

Grated Coconut - 1/4 Cup.
Red chillies - 3.
Garlic - 2.
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp.
Turmeric Powder -1/2 tsp.
Pearl Onions - 6.
Coriander Seeds - 1/4 tsp.
Fennel seeds - 1/4 tsp.
salt - as Needed.

To Temper

Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Fennel seeds - 1/4 tsp.
Curry leaves - 1 sprig.
hing - a Generous Pinch.

    Method 
    • Pressure cook Potato and  Avarekalu in a seperate container with needed water for 3 whistles.
    • Grind everything given in a "To Grind" column into a smooth Paste with needed water.

    • Heat the oil, add mustard seeds when it splutters add fennel seeds,curry leaves & hing.
    • When you get Good aroma of fennel seeds, add ground Paste.

    • Saute now & then for  for 3 - 4 minutes in a medium flame.Then add Cooked cubed Potato & Avarekalu.
    • Keep the flame to low.Mix well.Stir now and then till the water evaporates.
    • it takes nearly 5 minutes, then remove from fire.Garnish with fresh cilantro.


    • Serve with rice,roti,chapathi,phulka's & pulao's.


    Notes

    • Don't Overcook the Avarekalu(field Beans).
    • if you are using dried field beans soak it overnight.
    • Adjust the Red chillies according to your spice level.
    • Tempering with fennel seeds enhances the flavour of curry.
